‘aQua ad lavandum – in brevi’ is the name of a short film created out of a collaboration between the Konrad Wolf College for Film and Television and the creative workshop ‘Amber Artworks – creative film’.
The film is a parable; the story tells of a man who tries to free himself from his guilt following an unintentional murder but becomes more and more trapped in the situation until there seems to be no way out.
The film was shot in October 2005 with an Arriflex D20 on HD video. Post-production was completed in mid-2006 at the Konrad Wolf College. The resulting film ‘aQua ad lavandum’ was shown at the digital cinema expo ‘Insight Out’. However directors Helge Balzer and Florian Metzner were not satisfied with the screened product. In 2007, Amber Artworks revisited the film in post-production, extensively reworking it under direction from Dennis Rettkowski. With additional assistance from Olaf Aue, Stefan Maria Schneider and Florian Schäfer, the final cut of ‘aQua ad lavandum – in brevi’ was completed in April 2008.
